FMS Desktop Trainer -
Flight Management System (FMS) familiarization, driven by the aircraft’s actual avionics software, supported by the original avionics supplier – Collins Aerospace.
Today’s integrated avionics suites give pilots unprecedented information and situational awareness. The challenge is to keep flight crews current and familiar with the highly sophisticated system to allow them to take full advantage of it without increasing pilot workload.
An effective solution is the Avionics FMS desktop trainer from Collins Aerospace. It uses the same software that is used in the aircraft FMS and display systems. The software has been re-hosted to run in a Windows® desktop computer environment.
Through this desktop reuse of actual aircraft software, your pilots can learn new equipment faster and more effectively, without developing negative habits.
It’s a simple way to enhance aircraft operation safety.
But the Avionics FMS desktop trainer also saves time and money.
Pilots can use the trainer’s simulated avionics tool for flight pre-planning on their laptop computers. They can save a flight plan on a USB drive and then download it into the aircraft’s Collins Aerospace FMS. This eliminates the time it would take for the pilot to manually enter a flight plan into the FMS while the aircraft is being powered by the generator or auxiliary power unit.
KEY BENEFITS
- Pilots can practice with new Collins Aerospace avionics at their own pace
- Aircraft-specific products reduce negative habit formation
- All versions of the Avionics FMS desktop trainer run on Windows 10-based computers
- Enables pre-loading of flight plans, saving time and money
KEY FEATURES
- Looks and operates like the aircraft software, providing 100 percent training fidelity
- Provides virtual optical Control Display Unit (CDU) and Multifunction Display (MFD) formats
THE TRAINING CONTINUUM
We provide an array of training solutions to ensure that our customers get the greatest benefits from their avionics systems. Our training portfolio includes instructor-led and web-based training, to procedure trainers through full-motion flight training devices.
THE IDEAL FMS TRAINING TOOL
A state-of-the-art FMS is one of the most powerful and vitally important components of a modern cockpit. In today’s crowded airspace, it is critical that pilots can accurately interpret and respond to all the information that the avionics system is communicating to them.
It starts by entering a flight plan and performance data to get the most out of the aircraft’s systems. The Avionics FMS desktop trainer enables the pilot to go through the phases of flight, including navigation, V-speeds, engaging the Flight Director and autopilot functions. The Avionics FMS desktop trainer provides virtual avionics features of all the control panels, displays and non-avionics controls such as throttles. Pilots can practice and master all cockpit tasks.
To confirm their data entries, pilots can run a simulation that shows them the flight from takeoff to touchdown.
TRAIN LIKE YOU FLY
Because the Avionics FMS desktop trainer is aircraft specific, the software package you buy is the same as the equipment you have in your aircraft. This greatly enhances the training experience. We offer a desktop solution for Pro Line Fusion®, and Pro Line 21™ avionics suites. Collins Aerospace IFIS simulation is also available on applicable models.
MADE BY THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE THE AVIONICS
It’s a highly cost-effective solution that enables pilots to virtually train on the software they will use on the aircraft. Pilots can master the skills and knowledge they need to safely and efficiently operate in today’s air traffic control environment.
The Collins Aerospace Avionics FMS desktop trainer is available for the following aircraft types:
